“Jardin du Temps” (Garden of Time) is a stage designed by Nadia Lauro for the 2021 edition of Festival de la Cité Lausanne.
Located on the Place du Château (Castle Square), this open-concept garden is integrated into the urban space. The multilayered green atoll is inhabited by sound, voices, whispers, clouds, mist and choreographic movements. A visuel environment to hear, “Jardin du temps” is an invitation to experience reverse temporalities. The site is a nod to J.G. Ballard’s 1966 short story “Garden of Time.” The eponymous garden harnesses its energy from the elusive light of picked flowers, while retaining to itself, by an inversion of time, the horizon of its inexorable disappearance.
Nadia Lauro’s own “Garden of Time” awakens the idea of slowness and its potential for dissent.
During one week, Nadia Lauro invites the artists Nik Bärtsch, Marco Berrettini, Maud Blandel, Flora Détraz, Don Melody Club, Yves-Noël Genod, Tomas Gonzales, Yasmine Hugonnet, Organ Mug, Otto, Kate NV, Ana Rita Teodoro, Tout Bleu inhabit the garden.
